Many are probably confused about why certain NBA teams have been wearing peculiar jerseys with a "LOS". Interestingly, it is a beautiful political statement, in support of those countless individuals that will be targeted by those in support of anti-immigration.

Randomly, I revisited the Soul In the Hole Soundtrack, which I bought at a used cd store on South Street in Philly light years ago. I was reminded of the great female vocals of Tekitha, who was featured on several Wu songs. I also dig this KRS-One song called "Survivin' with Tekitha. (*Another great female vocalist is Vinia Mojica, who I will talk about some other time.) Neo-Soul For Life (With a mix of sincerity and humor).

This particular New Order video is a special time capsule of NYC. Among other things, it features Arthur Baker, producer of the song and countless others (i.e.- "Planet Rock"), doing the classic head-nod. Awesome imagery and storyline of a young girl trying to have fun a la Debbie Deb.
*Name 3 of the locations in the video and win nothing (because I sure don't know the locations either, but I know some NYC heads do).
Fast forward 15+ years... Holy Ghost! puts together a great remake of the New Order video, with an always interesting yet new look at NYC. But is it so different? Probably. What is the same though (*a lot?), besides the fact that Arthur Baker is still in the video! Sick video and song. Check it out.

Rare Dub/Reggae mix outta Pittsburgh. The homie DJ Spaed: "Classic roots, rockers, and lots of Dub Reggae here! Another DJ mix live on the wheels of steel all in one take with live effects layered!" The way he said it was in ALL CAPS though. -Jag

I once camped out on a beach in the freezing cold amidst an insane rainstorm. I had to set up my tent in pitch black with no flashlight..... I was ill prepared to say the least. The focus of this trip was a weekend-long Mandolin workshop in Cape Cod. I opted to camp for 15 dollars/night rather than spend the 90 dollars for the on-site cabins. The special guest at the workshop was the great Rich Delgrosso and the whole experience got me familiar with Blues music, and more specifically, mandolin blues. Two years later and accompanied by the unfortunate passing of the legendary Jack Rose, I started exploring more old-timey music and pre-war genres after attending the Jack Rose Tribute show in Philadelphia (which, amazingly featured artists such as Thurston Moore, Paul Flaherty, and Chris Corsano). It also helps that a co-worker who devotes much of his livelihood to American folk genres sported me a hard drives-full amount of his collection. Thanks! Above is some more recent blues mandolin that I stumbled upon after looking into the likes of Yank Rachell and Sleepy John Estes. All while going nuts over the new Freeway and Jake one Stimulus Package, of course. -Jagwire

One time in middle school, I wrote POWELL Skateboards a letter in search of this legendary video called "The Search For Animal Chin". I'm sure it was a letter filled with some innocent skaterat words that any other company would have laughed at or completely disregarded. But POWELL responded back. Not only that, but they sent me a free copy of the video (which wasn't even available in stores at the time) and a giant sticker. I was stoked, and I still have love for them today because of this. Thanks guys.

About On The Home Front:
***Home front is the informal term commonly used to describe the civilian populace of a nation at war as an active support system of its military.***
On The Home Front features the lyrics of Speaks and Lee, two working class PG County, MD. natives with close ties to the Washington, DC hip-hop scene. On The Home Front also features DJ Scratch Master K, who accentuates the tracks with cuts that prove he's worthy of the name.
The sole guest appearance is from Bu Bu the Producer, a 15-year veteran of the Districts music scene. Bu Bu lends his vocals on P Dot G Dot, in addition to engineering and producing several tracks for the album in Asiatic Studio. The bulk of production for the album was handled by Speaks in Hazmatic Studios.
This is my friend Cory's rap group, which features Speaks and DJ SMK as well.

1) Shade 45 is the best. If I had XM radio, I'd definitely put it in my top 5 rotation stations.
2) Why do some stores have lines that are off the charts, whereas other stores can deal with heavy clientele?
3) When you go to the grocery store, do you end up buying the same things week after week?

"He's always been very business minded and looked at skating in that fashion, which was smart because look where he is now. He's never changed, he didn't just turn into what you see. I never looked at skating that way, and one way isn't better than the other, we both just stayed true to who we are." -John Drake

In other world news, Washington Wizards point guard Gilbert Arenas pulls a gun on his teammate. When questioned by authorities, Arenas was hesitant but cooperative, saying he modeled his "diplomatic relations" after the "US government" and "military". His teammates and city of Washington are deeply confused.
